Ocing northwood 2.0 step 7

so i got the PC a few days ago from work.

its a gateway system. i plan on pulling this CPU out and dropping it in a Asus P4s8x mobo.

im just wondering what people have clocked this CPU to?

i plan on using water cooling on it. it isnt a great WC kit, but it does the job

I'm not an Intel fan, but it seems to me that some of the early P-4's realy sucked for OC's, but 2.0a Northwood sounds like the one everyone was kicking but with...

Don't know how the Intel guys missed this one, maybe the will chime in!

If you want to get a good idea of how it will do, go to Overclocker's.Com and check their CPU data base.

I was running some super pi benchies....my 1GHz (157fsb)p3 @ 1.17 got 1min 56 seconds...this p4 1.9GHz(backup pc for now) got something like 1min 46 seconds...talk about crap...no offence..but the older p4's SUCKED. /end rant/ having to use this pc

seems the average is about 2700 OC with some going to mis 3000. not too shabby for a free computer. now i just need to do somethign about this crappy mobo. im waiting for the weekend to swap out the mobo with my P4S8X.
