Default Voltage Range for Socket T (LGA775) CPU

Ok.. I have a couple of LGA775 Socket T CPU. I wanted to know if anyone have a safe range for the processor on AIR and on Water.

Does this CPU also suffer fro teh Sudden CPU Death syndrome of the old NorthWoods?

I believe my cpu run stock at like 1.38. I'm kicked it as high as 1.46v.

Any thoughts or guidelines would greatly be appreciated.

I have mine as high as 1.725 volts and it did not help my overclock and it made my CPU idle at 58 C with powerful cooling.

Should be safe, just remember thermal throatling will kick on and slow the chip down when it gets to hot. You can turn it off as well too in your BIOS.

Ok, I am going back into seclusion and to the back hole you would call a basement where my phase rig awaits.

Intel recommends a MAX voltage of 1.55v; I tend to believe them cuz when I appllied 1.65 to mine it temporarily hosed the CPU; fortunately (for me anyway) the chip creep reversed itself and I was able to use it again.

Intel specs a max temp of 65ºC which I also tend to believe since mine hangs at about that temp.

Joose,

Thanks for the info. 1.55v is still alot more then what is default. I figure I will use that as my max. I bumped vcore a bit, but didn't seem to gain much. but who knows.. maybe I can do 4.2 like Spike

Also, 65 degrees is kinda low, esp with these PressHots. Luckily, my EO runs alot cooler then my DO. I actually idle on AIR at around 36-38, even at around 1.45v. Of course, with more vCore I put, the hotter it gets under load.

I'm not really going to push 1.5v+ till I got this puppy under water.

Thanks again everyone for the info.

Here's the offishal document from Intel.

Look at table 5-3 on page 75 for the thermal limits. Look at table 2-7 on page 22 for the absolute maximum voltage rating for the .09nm LGA chips.

The reason it's only 65ºC is because it's .09nm process...chip creep happens at lower temps/voltages when the pipes are that small.
