The problem was that his post is almost incoherent, and a couple of people before me had problems understanding exactly what he is asking. If BJ doesn't have enough respect for this forum to write in a manner that is understandable, I don't have enough respect for BJ to take his post seriously.

as far as i can tell, he's got $350 to spend on an intel system and he wants us to do the research for him. though he has a amd system that he's too lazy to fix. incoherent posts are a bane to this forum and you'll just get flamed for it . ..

Honestly, it wasn't just the incoherent post, it was his the way he posted. Trash talking while asking for help is not a way to make an impression. I own both AMD and Intel so that didn't bother me, but the way he said AMD sucked and Intel ruled, while asking for help on a new rig pissed me off.

What he did is just alienate over half of our forum members with his trash talking. I'm sure that if more members understood what he was saying, there would have been some posts much more direct than mine was.

Yeah, BJ obviously is lacking in the social skills department.

BA I have to agreee with you 100% as site admin at MHQ, I do not care to waste my time on babbling crap like this, best thing to do is to just move on and let it go. People will figure it out once they have been ignored enough that something, is definitely wrong with the manner in which they post.

Dear Big Jim:

You did make a mistake trash talking a certain brand of processor (AMD). We take things pretty seriously here and fi you look at the numbers AMD users are more so present that INTEL users in this forum. I personally have owned eight AMD processors and only two Intel processors.

Let's take a little walkback in History. I originally had a 550mhz AMD K6 which was slow I admit, but hey so was the Pentium 2. Keep in mind our home computer was an Athlon 850 at the time and it walked around my K6 like it was a little turd. I then upgraded to a 800mhz AMD Duron which I found to be quite fast even though 1.4GHZ P4's were out on the market. Then I had a 733MHZ P3 which i picked up for free from the ex GF.

I then made a huge jump to 1800+ Athlon XP land where I burned through 4 or 5 processors over the next couple of years because I overclocked them to extremes. Jim I took a 1.53GHZ (1800+ Athlon XP) to 2.3GHZ on air with an SLK800A heatsink with a Vantec Tornado fan. That thing would stomp on 3GHZ P4's hands down regardless of benchmark results, which did favour my OC'd AMD).

I then recently made the switch to Intel with a 2.8GHZ P4C. I admit I love this processor for three reasons. It's fast, it overclocks like crazy (3.6GHZ on air) and its got hyperthreading which will make it very hard for me to move back to AMD. But. . . . Then I tried an FX55 in stores and I was blown away by the amazing speed. Yes Benchmarks favour intel for programs such as Adobe Photoshop but AMD can match easily and exceed when it comes to gaming. Reason being is that AMD processors have a shorter more efficient pipeline and does more clocks per cycle than the Intel Pentium 4. This is why MHz to MHz isn't a good way to judge. if you had a 3.8GHZ AMD it would be equivalent to a 7+GHZ Intel. Please don't bash AMD because they hold their ground just as well as Intel, and hey look they dont have heat issues like the faster Pentium 4's do.
