| Apex Techie Wannabe | I was ocing a copple of weaks ago and it was runing stable. So i went alittle high and reased the volt temps were okay. But then when i rebooted the mobo didn't recognize the cpu. It hasn't clocked the same since. | |

Have you reset the BIOS? If not, it would not hurt to reset the BIOS and then go in and change all the setting to the way they were when you were getting the good overclocks.

Those look like DRAM Timings and Voltage to me, they don't directly effect processor speed. You probably know this and the way the thread has developed is just confusing. Of course if the DRAM is too far out of spec then you will still have problems booting, but I was under the impression it was your CPU frequency we were looking at. I think we need a very detailed breakdown of all your BIOS settings for the CPU, DRAM, etc. before we can help. ALso, I know what Mobo you have, and RAM, but not the CPU, is it a 3 Gig Prescott or a 3 Gig Northwood ? Last edited by lcpiper; 26-February-05 at 06:44 PM..

| Apex Techie Wannabe | okay i have my dram at1:1 and my 3.0 is a northwood. But i was tring differant things and had it clocked to 230 stable. But then I bumped it up and know she won't boot and gives me this noise. I reset the coms but nothing what went wrong this just after changing the timing to 3-4-4-8. ![]() | |

| Couger, I have been overclocking and had the same thing happen, system wouldn't boot for over a day, then all of a sudden, it works again. But we need all the info to help you out. We now have the CPU, Mobo, and RAM. You need to open your system, unplug the power cord, remove the CMOS Battery, and let it sit for awhile, go outside and smoke a ciggerette, or watch an episode of Friends, whatever. Then put the Battery back in, plug in the power cord, boot to BIOS, and reset defaults. Then enter stock settings and see if she boots up for you. A word of caution, playing with voltages is risky, I know guys do it all the time, but they damage their gear all the time as well. I am not saying you shouldn't do it, I am saying that you should not do it lightly, and not at all if you can't replace your gear easily. Let's get your system running again first, then we can play with the OC again | ||
