And if you use Intels "Quad Pumping" that works out to 1520FSB Thats faster then some peeps CPU's max GHZ speed around here ADD: Sorry there Anon, I clicked the Edit button on your post, an put my reply in your post instead That is like the second time I've done that late at night, those buttons are right next to each other..always surprises the hell out of me too! And aaron, to quote from a song from a band called "Disturbed" Edit: Hmm had to add that one to my sig, see below Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 14-February-05 at 06:32 AM..

Na..anything much over 3 ghz is realy overkill for gaming, this is just a benchmarking "Toy" You won't see John Force drive his AA Funny Car to church on Sundays ![]()

...Now if I were Johnny F...I'd be driving it everywhere... ![]() ...a circuit-smokinÂ’ board barbeque, a sadistic attempt to torture technology until it submits. sounds like your basic "Dark Arts" Pimpslap!!...ItÂ’s sinful to enjoy the smell of melting solder just for the smug satisfaction of higher frame rates. And itÂ’s downright immoral to crank higher clock speeds far beyond what the Chip Creator intended. HUH?!! no way man...it's a way of life ![]()

| Thats ok, but since its only a picture in the BIOS I can't give major props really. I got my ASUS to show 3.6 gigs with a AMD 3000+ in the BIOS, and I also got a screenshot of it to, but it would not hit Windows anywhere near that. SOLID I bet you that your looking forward to playing with that ram of yours! | ||

| OK seeing as how they got it to run @ 7.2 regardless of it in windows or not, doesnt that mean if the people at intel tweaked there chip up. They could have running 7ghz chips. I dont think its stupid to think if either AMD or intel really tryed they could be making stuff thats in the10,000GHz range, but its really not needed...so :\ | ||

| Actually, I can't remember who did it, but supposedly the ideal computer for gaming (real-time rendering of -everything-) sits around somewhere like 10Ghz, 4 GB of ram, etc.. That being said, Intel really can't just throttle up their processors to 7ghz... not everyone uses something better than the stock hsf, and its a liability to them (think of all the warranty claims, etc), and like it's been said: it wont load into windows at that speed... so then you have a nice big thousand-someodd-dollar paperweight, but dammit it runs 7.2 Ghz! Just wouldn't work, bro. ![]() | ||

First off its not stable its only stable at 6.6. Second the 3.8 gets hot without overclocking im sure that he is running a phase, just look at the thing tomshardware did with the new Intel chips. So it would probably fry before you go to the bootscreen. Finally you cant just jump from 3 ghz to 10 you need to build up the technology. It takes time to build a new cpu. First they hafta make one chip, then they hafta find out how to effectively manufacture that chip. Im not sayin it would be impossible but it would be to costly for them to do it in a timely fashion. Maybe in a couple years it will be out. P.S. Im not trying to be rude or anything just tryin to inform another pimp.

Thats rong, I mean of course if you raise the Mhz from stock its going to run hotter, 9600XT runs 500Mhz and can be cooled passive, the 9800Pro runs 380 and its HSF can barely keep up. Its how the chip is designed and the manufacturing process its made with that determines its heat output for the most part.

| Well, There are things like 10 ghz chips. While I was working at Intel, they were just finshing up witht their 90 nm division and they were researching 70 nm and lower. Don't expect it to be odd when we see someone clocking up to at least 10-15 in the near future. Circuit @ Intel does tend to give quite a bit of information. (Circuit was the employee's portal to Intel) | ||

| Going slightly off at a tangent , what do you think of the idea of multiple processors in a rig. And I don't mean processors using HT to trick a machine or indeed dual core processors but physically procssor cards in a PCI slot style connection that means a PC could have 4, 5 .. unlimited in theory, processors and work like a PBX? Just a thought. ![]() | ||
