Default IC-7G OC Issue w/ SATA drive

So my IDE drive blew up on me over the xmas break and I bought a 120gb SATA drive. Problem is when I OC my board even from 200 to 202 I lose the HDD. Doesn't show in the bios, won't detect..nuthin...and yes I have the latest Bios update and all that...

Anyone experience smilar issues with SATA drives?

Have you tried different SATA channels?

On my DFI LP there are 4 total, channels 1 and 2 crap over 240, but 3 or 4 work fine well past 300FSB

according to my bios the ide channels are 1&2 and the SATA channels are 3&4. I'll play around with it and see what I get. FWIW I had the board up to 3.26 with an IDE drive until it went boobs up on me

thanks $Solid$

NP, It's realy a shot in the dark, I wish I had something better.

Maybe the Sata controller doesn't overclock, you can always get an add on for under 20$

I've experienced the same thing with that board. Try pluging in the SATA drive into the ICH5 controller (SATA port 1 and 2) , because ICH5 isn't affected by the overclock because its built into the 875p chipset. Thats what solved it for me, I would recommend giving it a try.
