I want to OC but like $170 is the limit for the budget. Im mainly just not wure if the 1meg cache is better than the 800 fbs. I mainly us this rig for gaming but it does do other things too, just not as ofter

Thanks
Sniff

P.S. I think ill go with the 2.6 1meg cache but i just wanted other options.

The 2.4c is a way better choice, you won't miss the extra cache, the 2.66 is a prescott core and has longer pipelines, so the advantage is lost. In fact it will typically perfrom slower when speeds are under 3.0GHZ, it won't show any advantage to speak of unless you run over 4ghz.

The Northwood will also run alot cooler, and has Hyperthreading, the 533 FSB prescotts don't have that enabled...

Actually I was confused by the 2.66 with 1MB cache and 533FSB, at first I thought it was an older "B" core, but after doing a little better checking, I saw it used the Prescott core. There is also a 2.4ghz version that has been around for a while and is nuetered with 533FSB and no Hyperthreading, this is the first I've heard of a 2.66ghz version.

I had the same question as you but after a little bit of researching I went ahead and bought the 2.4c with the Northwood Core. It's a fast lil mammajamma. The second I get a new HSF I'm going to overclock it to 3ghz and go from there.
