Default 3.4prescott and ABIT AS8 OC problem

sup guys..weird thing about my motherboard and memory combo...first off...when i overclocked my AS8 matched with corsair DDR4000PRO the first time i had it..i was getting stable overclocks at 241FSB.now..everytime i hit that..i get artifacts with benchmarks like the futuremark and aquamark benchies.sometimes..itll just hang or reboot the PC by itself.same thing with any games.
heres a quick setup i have
pentium4 3.4 prescott
corsair DDR4000pro 500 speed
polarfloTT waterblock
P4 @3.99*ghz with 240FSB
vcore = 1.58
1:1 mem ratio memory voltage 1.9V 4-4-4-8 timing
heres a lil twist...even at 3.6ghz..i still get artifacts but nohanging or rebooting.when i tried my other set of memory which is corsair DDR3200LL with 2-2-2-5 timings..everything runs fine.no artifacts whatsoever.
bad part is..i can only hit upto 220FSB with the DDR3200LL.
ived looked and searched around the net and always seeing other AS8 owners being able to run theirs with upto 475FSB.
what gives?

maybe be wrong but could the 475 you're reffering to be the effective fsb? since its ddr, you double the actual speed. if that's the case yours is at 440.

how's the cooling on your graphics card? what kind of temps are you running?

welcome to pimprig, btw

are you sure you have a presscott? 1.6 is the safe max for vcore on a pressy but 1.8 is OK on a northwood.

with artifacts thats your video card being overclocked too far. Get a program called ATI tool (unless you have nvidea then i cant help you with a prog atm) it will automatically overclock your video to its maximum.

But if you arent overclocking your video then it sounds like you need to check your agp/pci frequency. make sure its set to 66 and NOT auto.

How good is your power suply?

I temporarily used an Antec 300 watt PS and got all kinds of problem above 2.4ghz with the video (X-800 Pro)
Put the Antec 550 back in later and was fine at 2.6GHZ all day long

whhooppsss..mah bad..i meant 275FSB
my temps running 4ghz..idle 42-44 full load..50-55
running my videocard on water block too
6800 ultra @ 450/1200 idle 42 full load 50-58
used the same exact setting with another pair of corsair DDR3200LL and the artifacts dont show at all but im only running the CPU @ 3.740ghz = 220FSB (thats all the DDR3200LL can go the highest)
when i try to run the CPU @3.740ghz = 220FSB with the corsair DDR500..artifacts all over
so impretty sure its not the video card.
using PC power and cooling 510 express for power supply and my AGP/PCI is locked @ 66 too.
im leaning towards more on the DDR500's loose timings and just dont jive running under 500 speed sync with the CPU.
what do you guys think?
god...ived been a member here since april 2003 and this is only my first post

There is a few possible problems you might be having.

1.Is your gfx card overclocked or does it not have sufficent cooling? Thats what most likely is causing your problems.
2. If you don't have a good PSU and you up your vcore to 1.8 and arent having problems thats because your PSU can't provide enough volts at 1.8 so its really most liekly at far below 1.8 and thats what causing your stability problems. I would not consider 1.8vcore safe by any means on a Prescott.
3.Are your temps ok? ABIT boards are known to have inacurate temp sensors by +10 to -10 degrees.
4. Is your PCI/AGP at a locked setting in the bios? It needs to be 66/33 or else that will cause problems.
Hope this gives you some insight on whats causing your problem.

its probably the ram. give it 2.85V orwhatever the max is.
also try a divider just to see if it is the ram
and then give the system a memtest86 test @ max overclock, that tells a LOT about whats going on with ram, but do full test @ max stable.

also try,

disable spread spectrum
raising the vcore just a bit more. if you are watercooling I have heard that 1.7 is acceptable for presscotts.

do a mem test with each set of ram...
