Default Memory Upgrade questions

I am going to buy new memory so that my Rig has a higher overclocking potential.

I currently have 512 mb of ddr pc2100.
I would like to buy something around 2700 or 3000 so that I can overclock.
This is my question:
Schould I buy better quality but then only 265..or less quality and then 512.
I woul like to buy highquality 512mb but i have limited funds

Thx
-Nikon

d00d, its a huge diff especially during gaming, your applications will work faster as well and not get bogged down with 256.
Me and a friend of mine have almost identical comps, we each have 512of 3500 although , his was Samsung and mine was Corsair XMS we Oc'd our @#*# and his was sooooo GD unstable the memory just could not handle it until he shipped out for a stick of Corsair.
save your money and buy a good 512 stick pc 3000 or 3200 will be just fine for a long time.

Yes Nikon, expecially if you are running Windows XP, you will notice a good increse in gameing, as windows XP is one hell of a memory hog. Id save up a few buck more cash and go with the 512 stick of high quality RAM

512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 for $169 Shipped via Fedex 3day Is for you Nikon You already have DDR that works and its not a critical situation so saving up or THE best isnt such a bad prospect.
NuTrend is a respectable e-tailer I've bought from several times in the past and they've always been prompt with order processing and delievery FYI.

buy anything but generic ram!

you will be way better off waiting till you can drop the extra $50 on the corsair!

edit: corsair, mushkin, crucial, micron, samsung hell just about anything but generic!

like I told you with the WC gear read some reviews and shootouts ...... there are hundreds!

Ok piper..thx for the advice..
Now I went out and read some shootouts...and found out that Geil memory seems to be high quality and in some cases it beat corsair in a shootout.
I found it hear for quite cheap

Corsair is the way to go. Not only do you get bragging rights when you OC it, but the heat spreaders look sweet in your sys!

Well, don't just do it because I say so!

I am not the one who is going to be using it !

I still have Muskin Rev 2 PC-133 (kick arse ram a year ago!).

I am just pointing out that saving $9 bucks only counts if you are happy with what you get! I have read several less than stellar GEIL reviews!
