1.8A C1 found

In case anyone besides me has been looking, just bought a OEM 1.8A C1 stepping PIV at PC Club in Palm Springs, CA for $170 and a little change.

Here's the specs:

PIV 1.8A C1 stepping
SL6LA MALAY
Week: 44
L244A163-1917

Yeah, the price may have been a little high, I was looking for a specific chip. I havent seen anyplace with C1's in the $120 range since I have been back in the states. If you could post a reply more than a few are interested.

On the C1 1 I got, I wanted to make sure it was a Malay, week 40+, or as close as I could get.

On the overclocking front, CPU runs stable (1 day with Prime/SETI) without crash at 3.2+GHZ on air. Multiple hours of WC3/Wolfenstein/BF1942 without any problames at all. Default voltage increased from 1.525 Vcore to 1.6. Temps ranging from 49-58C. The chip will post higher (3.4Ghz) but doesnt remain stable. Looking forward to hooking up the water when I finish my move to Seattle. From other friends, I doubt, from their results, that water will really make all that much a difference in the sweet spot, but it will help the temps.

If anyone else has any q's or suggestions, please pass them.

That kind of overclocking will kill the chip in less then 3 months I guarantee you, Do not increase the vcore on northwoods or you will kill it from SNDS (sudden northwood death syndrome)
What happens is that since everything is so close together(0.13micron) the electricity overflows into other parts of the chip sounds weird but its a fact; do not increase that vcore unless you dont mind having a 6 month minus lifespan chip

Thanks for the info. Familiar with SNDS, not to worried about it though. Will simply replace the chip if it craps out. Lifespan of my hardware is about 6 months anyways. Just a little project box to tinker with.

Also, are you gonna post/email the link/vendor for the $123 OEM C1 stepping 1.8A you mentioned earlier? I am having a tough time finding anyone with one in stock much less one at that price.
