Default overclocking p4 1.8a on gigabyte ga-8iexp

Im new to this whole overclocking thing and i am having trouble with it. I have a p4 1.8a gigabyte ga-8iexp and 256 mb of ocz pc2700 ram. When i overclock anything past a a fsb of 144 regardless of the voltage my computer will not reboot. I can boot up perfectly, run all my games and 3dmark 2001 se, but when i want to restart my computer the screen just goes back. Can anybody help me?
