hahaha I just had to post that thanks to lokie, twisted and a few others I got my new heatsink hooked up.

My current temps are 29C CPU and 27 System on stock settings... I will post my new temps here soon when I OC to 3.0ghz.

So what cooling are you using? My Q6600 is a bit too warm to O/C.

I type better with my left eye closed. Still wondering what the cooling is on the aforementioned Q6600. Shock Top is not a bad American attempt at the Belgian style white beers...

Yeah, this thread is not too interesting since the cooling isn't explained. It is just a "look what I can do" post.

OCCT is the only stress-test app with out-of-the-box support for Quad Cores AFAIK.

Download - OCCT Website english

Also, my Q6600 at 3.5ghz will be faster than yours at 3.6ghz because I'm using the 8x multiplier and thefore an FSB of 1750mhz. If you can run at 8x, do it.

so 8x450? how would you get a fsb of 1750?

lol at above stupid question; I did my math wrong.. hahaha

So with my 9x400 I used that OCCT application and it worked... my temps went up to 56c on complete load on all 4 cores.

You gotta run OCCT for about 10 minutes to make sure it heats the CPU up to max temperature. Mine usually sticks around 50c until 8 minutes and then it jumps to 62c, staying there ad infinitum.

Make sure you run it for about five+ hours to make sure you system is rock stable.

So I ran it for about 8 minutes and then it said crashed in the program and my temp was 65C when the program said crashed.. is this supposed to happen?

If it says 'crashed' it means that the stress-test has failed and your PC is not stable. What voltages are you running?

~1.39 CPU

why would it crash at 65 degrees though... I was looking at guides and they said max was 70... it was running at 65 for a good 5 mintues too without changing...

It's not the temperature, it's the lack of voltage that is causing it to crash. I mounted my cooler wrong last summer and my CPU got to 90c before crashing.

Something needs more voltage - if it's your CPU you I don't know. I need 1.49v to run 3.5ghz, but I have a particularly bad chip. You may not. Have you increased the northbridge, fsb and other voltages? What speed is your RAM running at?

Let's try that again.

There is no such thing as too cool, any processor that is running at 29*C is a happy processor. Vapochill comes to mind.

Something is lacking voltage somewhere.
