| Long story short: I've built a hackintosh, I love it, I love my badaxe2, and I love my case. HOWEVER, the case is too shallow to use my Ultra 120 Extreme, and I'm running a Q6600. I want to overclock it, but I want a good, low profile HS. (A Big Typhoon fit, but barely, and I'm hoping there are better ones out there now.) I've got to run off to work right now, but I'll give all the specs when I get back. In the meantime, does anyone know a good low-profile heatsink suitable for q6600 overclocking? | ||

| Apex Techie II | This one is keeping my C2D 6400 at around 22C. I'm not oc'ed, but it works very well. Thermalright Ultima-90 for Intel Socket 775 or AMD AM2 | |

How does that compare in terms of height to the ultra 120? I can't even begin to fit that beast in my case. My total system specs are as follows: Intel D975dbx2kr q6600 4gb (2x2gb) gskill DDR2 800 2gb (2x1gb) firestix DDR2 800 (yeah yeah I know I'm mixing and matching, but honestly, the firestix is great ram, and I'm more concerned with volume than I am total speed.) 2x WD 160gb sata HD 1x WD 500gb sata HD bfg 8800GT an old Enermax Liberty 480w and all of the above sits in my pretty Cooler Master Praetorian case. I have TONS of room in this case, thanks to the board design working so well with the case design. There are legitimately no wires making a mess (closest thing to a mess is the 8pin mobo power, and that's the most cable that's "free" I was considering going to a water cooled setup, as I only have 1 DVD burner, and lots of 5.25" bays open for a res, and I'm not opposed to slapping a rad on top. But does anyone know if I could get north/south bridge coolers that use the goofy attachment ala intel (that bent wire deal, no holes in the mobo) I'd love to use h20 on those bad boys. For the record, my current rig (not overclocked) destroys our Power Mac at work (last gen, 2 Intel Xenons at 2.66ghz with 5gb of ram) twice as fast at the things we do (transfer raw files into .tifs and photoshop filters) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Well the price and availibilty was right on a GeminII so I'm using that for now. I know it's not in the same league as the 120 extreme, but it's so much better than the stock intel hsf, that it's not even funny. Ok, it is kinda funny, I mean my idle temps dropped from 54c with the stock cooler at stock settings to 35c overclocked with the geminII. Now for the BIG question: where do I find an orthos or prime95 program that works on mac OSX?! | ||
