Default Quick question of opinion and preference...

Would you put 1.57v through an E6600 on good water cooling if the load temps were below 50c? I'm talking 24/7.

Who would? Who wouldn't?

If it didn't get above 50 and was only stable at that voltage or higher, then of course I would!

if the temps stay good hook it to a car battery .

I dont think 1.57v will hurt , as long as the temps stay good. I'd do it ** but then i like sparks **

As long as your load temps don't get to an extreme temperature then yes.

I have always been scared to push past 1.5v to get past 3.5ghz but I figure as I'm getting a quad soon enough I may as well push some more out of it.

1.57v and under 50c load, you don't think that could fry it inside a few months?

I personally think it'll be cool. I just want a second opinion. I won't be going higher than 1.6v ...I'm looking for a 24/7 safe clock.

I also get to run 800mhz 1:1 with some really tight timings and see if it does me any favours as opposed to 972mhz 4:5.

EDIT:

Also worth mentioning, it only needs 1.55v, but it's 1.57v set, and 1.55v after droop at full-load.

Just means that when I'm not at full-load it sits at 1.57v then drops to 1.55v on load. Never exceeds 50c.

Clock that memory as high as you can, and to hell with timings. Core 2s benefit from as much bandwidth as you can give them, so the higher the better. Most DDR2 tops out at about 1200mhz.

I can do 1000mhz 4:5 with a 3.6ghz clock, I just gotta get the f***ing thing stable below 1.6v.

I think it might be the voltage regulators on the board. They get pretty hot.

I'm alway quick to shoot extra volts to everything. But I rarely have a part for long.
Usually less than a year and I'm upgrading again. If I knew I had to live with a part
for quite awhile I would be much nicer :-)
And I agree with reflux, loosen the timings, this is Intel not AMD :-)

already done, slipped into 4:5 and upped the mhz to 973 (still CL4) like they were in my sig originally.

I have to settle for 3.5ghz

This chip is crap. It runs cool but it's crap. Unless it's my voltage regulators. Meh. Either way something is crap.

I WANT 3.6!!!!111111122

I should be able to do 3.6 at 1.47v or something, then push 1.6v through it and get 3.8 stable
