| Well it has happened... i am going to ditch this AMD stuff... going to go intel. So fat i have the 680i eVga mobo comming, and now i need a CPU, i am not going to go quad core. i Have been looking at the 6550 1333fsb chip from one of my vendors here, 156.00 to me! anyway what i want to know from some of the Intel guys here (yes i used to be on eof the intel guys here... but that was s478 and northwoods) if that would be a good clocking CPU, or should i get something in the 1066fsb and clock it dumb? | ||

| As far as i'm aware, the 1,333mhz FSB chips aren't a major step up from the 1066's, and certainly aren't worth spending much extra £/$ on. However, as I recently discovered, if you want to turn the knobs up to 11 when you're 'clocking an Intel chip, getting your hands on an early version of the chip is the way forward. My first E6300 (bought in May this year) had a VID of 1.35v and refused to clock more than 2.4ghz on my AB9 and 2.2ghz on my P5NE-SLi. As soon as I put an earlier chip in (bought new by Reflux in the middle of last year) with a VID of 1.24, I was able to get 3.3ghz @ 1.3v. So, the biggest benefit of buying a new 1,333mhz chip might be that, being a new design, it is more likely to overclock better than a last of the line 1,066mhz chip. Hope that makes sense........ | ||

| Yea, i think you are right.... In fact i dont need even what i have now. i no longer game, i dont bench, i surf for porn, check my e-mail, chat and watch movies on it.... But i think that the QCore would be a better soultion. i will hold off for one more week.... see what pops up. But then when Phenom hit... CRAP! | ||

| To be completely honest, I am not sure the quad core is worth it if you are mainly gaming. I just got a 6850 and while I am still waiting on the X38 mobos, I think it was the right choice for a gaming rig. The faster FSB and clock I think is worth more than a quad core with lower clock and FSB. Of course, I could be completely wrong. But I figured if I couldn't get the fastest quad core, than the fastest (short of the ridiculously expensive extreme) dual core would do. ![]() | ||

And unless you're filthy rich... ![]() G0 Q6600s are getting some frankly stupid OCs. Screw the multi, grab one of them if you can.

Some of them are, but some of them seem to be no better than the B3s. Which weren't really that bad. Wish I'd got a G0 though, B3s get damn hot.

Well you know what I mean. Most of us don't have that sorta money. I don't have the money for my PC. I got my rig and I'm ....filthy poor? If you ask me now how I managed the fundings to get this machine built? I honestly couldn't tell you. I think that it was some inconceivable act of evil that my subconcious blanked out. o.O

Highperf15, what's the highest you can get your Q6600 to? And what load temps are you getting at your everyday speed, using OCCT/CoreTemp? I can't get mine past 3.7ghz, and its pretty flaky at that speed. My load temps are 70c at 3.2ghz, I took it down from the 3.3ghz in my sig because it gets really toasty. Intel isn't going to make it anybetter. I am AMD, I will hold off... Also, hopefully my NF590SLI chipset can be used with the phenom... AMD FTW!!!
