| My shiny(ish) new(ish) Asus P5N-E SLI is refusing to overclock my E6300 beyond 2.0ghz. Which is a bit of a pain, considering that the previous owner of the board, Reflux, had it running his E6300 at 3.2ghz all day long. Our current thought is that his E6300 is an early version with a VID of 1.29v, whereas mine is a newer one with a VID of 1.325v. This processor was stable at 2.4ghz in my previous abit AB9, which is as fast as that board would take it. Everything is more than sufficiently cooled, but regardless of the voltages and RAM speeds/timings i use it just won't budge. Any suggestions/bright ideas? I am going to try putting Reflux's low VID processor in it soon to see if that makes a difference. Oh and hello to anyone that remembers me from a couple of years ago, ive been at uni doing WORK unlike 'flux and dex ![]() | ||

| Won't be the vid, my E4300 has a vid of 1.325 and overclocks to just under 3.6Ghz on my P5Ne with a slight boost. Try this. Update the BIOS to the latest version if you can first. CPU/RAM: Unlinked FSB: 1500 NBv: Two settings above default (cant remember the exact voltage but theres only 3 options if memory servers: default, etc, etc.) vCore offset: +100mv vCore: 1.375 Should get you to around 2.6Ghz. If thats not stable, up the vCore by one setting each time. | ||

| Sempr0n? | Thanks for your responses guys, but it wasn't a problem, we just put replaced his E6300 with my old one, and it's currently sitting pretty @ 3.3GHz as before ![]() Guess Ralph's E6300 was just a bit duff. | |

| yeah we put an older chip in and low and behold, 3.3ghz at the first attempt. Have now offloaded my old Abit AB9, E6300 and X1800XL onto little brother, where of course it all works fine at 2.4ghz. just one of those things i suppose... | ||

| haha dont worry, ive offloaded the old warhorse onto little brother. He's now got all my old bits stuffed in that, it sounds like its about to take off but it runs everything we throw at it at virtually full graphics. Ive had a Thermaltake Soprano since june, its a bit of a tight fit inside but its ok, especially with the BFG8800 FTW stickers on it ![]() | ||
