Unhappy Overclocked a Q6600 G0 on Abit IP-35 Pro now 0x0000007F in Vista, KF CPU?

This was my first attempt to overclock a system

I googled the error code says i might have bad ram. Im using Mushkins XP2-6400, I called a rep because my motherboard didnt read my ram right so had to set the timmings, here are the numbers he gave me.

CAS Latency Time : 4
Ras# to CAS# delay :4
Ras# Precharge: 3
Precharge Delay : 10
Refresh Cycle Time :42
Write Recovery Time: 4
Write to Read Delay: 11
Act to Act Time : 3
Read to Precharge : 5

Mch 1.25 Voltage : 1.44v
DDR2 Voltage 2.050
Dram Spec 1:1:25

Overclocked settings:
Multiplier Factor x9
External Clock: 336
CPU Core voltage: 1.32
CPU VTT 1.2v Voltage: 1.20

I didnt change the ram settings when i overclocked, should i have? I was trying to get to 3.0ghz on the quad, didnt think i needed watercooling since im using a Tunia Tower. I was able to get into windows fine for a few minutes I started to run OCCT and the program crashed after 3mins but durring the test the temps didnt go past 50c. I thought everything was fine so i started to browse the internet, once i had about 3 pages open windows crash, and that was that, cant get back in. I ran memtest86 with both sticks and got 77 errors, but on a single stick running the test they are fine, no errors. Whats going on?

I had a thread in the watercooling section asking for info on overclocking this cpu, heres the link for more info on my system. http://forums.pcapex.com/extreme_coo...tem_owned.html

Thanks, any help much appreciated!

Boot with the stick that had no errors and see if your problem goes away. Run stock settings while trouble shooting.

Somehow im fine now . Moved the ram over to the other dimm slots.

I did use the stock settings while i was troubleshooting and I'm not going to touch anything untill i can help some help

What settings need to be changed when overclocking? Do i need to change the ram timings?
Here is a list of the motherboard options.

Should i just take it to the max intel recommendation? 1.35v? I need a new stress testing app, OCCT keeps crashing.

You can take it as high as you please, as long as it has good temps, I don't recommend over 1.5v unless you have better cooling. Also, over 1.35v voids your warranty OCCT is fine, its the overclock thats not stable causing it to crash.

Thats all i need to change? leave the ram timing alone?

what about northbridge, and southbridge volts? Also, you'd probably beable to hit 3Ghz on stock volts, I'm at 3.2Ghz on stock volts and i have a B3 stepping

It needs volts on the CPU. Try timings like 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v

Alright, i got it to boot at 2997mhz 1.35v but OCCT crashes after 2-3mins, The temps when the crash are
CPU #1 / Core #1 59 °C
CPU #1 / Core #2 54 °C
CPU #1 / Core #3 55 °C
CPU #1 / Core #4 58 °C

Idle
CPU #1 / Core #1 45 °C
CPU #1 / Core #2 42 °C
CPU #1 / Core #3 43 °C
CPU #1 / Core #4 44 °C

thanks for your help killert! but im hitting the sac, its 3am gotta be up at 6 xD

Its still not stable, temps dont matter if theres not enough voltage.

Mine's currently rock solid at 3.2ghz, 1.375vCore, and it's a B3. I have a different motherboard to you...but set the following things:

C1E Support - Disabled
EIST - Disabled
Virtualization Tech - Disabled

Increase your CPU reference voltage; this allowed me to remain stable at lower vCore. Bang up the FSB and Northbridge voltages if you can, and set lax timings on your RAM so that that doesn't interfere with the CPU overclock.

To test if your memory is b0rked, download the bootable ISO image for MemTest86 from here and run that for a couple of hours to see if you pick up any errors.

thanks reflux for the info but i had no luck overclocking, im done with this for now "memory is b0rked" lol

Right now im trying to find a way to watch tv on my pc. Since i saved money on not watercooling i got a new monitor (22" 226cw) but no luck on finding a pcie x1 video capture card. I got a digital cable box so i dont need a tuner, just something to input a s-video cable from my cablebox to my pc( it should work right?). I had the 7800gtx video card and i remember hooking up something to the s-video input and getting a signal on my VLC player. So i throw out my old tv thinking i could hook it up again, But i burned that card and got a almost free upgrade to the 7900gtx($100) since they were out of the 7800gtx, but now i dont have video in... man, my wallet hurts

Thanks for the help in overclocking guys but i dont think im ready to try it again, need to find some good guides and read some more about fsb, ram timings, synchronization.
