That E6600 is a great CPU. I can run mine day and night at 3.7, but keep it at a safe 3.15 for everyday computing. That allows me to ramp the memory speed up a lot more.

I have been so impressed with the E6600 that I am now thinking about a Q6600 upgrade. I'm glad you are happy with the performance. I remember almost having to beg Coel to make that move, and he was happier than a three-balled tomcat after he did the upgrade.

Seriously though, Intel ftw. I love my pre week-32 E6300. It overclocks like a barsteward.

I figured 3.4 would a be good safe target, it's almost a given for that CPU. We have the memory running at stock DDR-2 800 for now, didn't want to push things too far right off the bat, the memory setting are a bit more tricky, and are a minor gain in game performance for the amount of time he will have to fuss in the bios.

From what I have been reading..the early C2D's seem to OC a bit better (200-300MHZ) than the newer steppings like you and I recieved, from what I can gather, the better binning chips are ending up in the Quad cores, with the real premium ones ending up in the QX6700 and QX6800's.

I have also seen the new batch of motherboards that support 1333FSB are having much better luck getting good clocks from the Quads, often on the order of 300-400MHZ over the older 1066 based boards, just something to keep in mind if you upgrade if it doesn't perform up to your expecations.

Glad to see you finally enjoying your rig NoSlack..it's been a long time coming since we first spec'd this out, BF-2 never looked so good, or loaded so fast I bet!
