| i got e4300 an di got it over clocked slightly.. when im looking at t in cpuz i keep seeing my multiplier change between 6 and 9. whats the deal with this. is it the software.. or does the cpu just do this at idle. or could it be another peice of software or bios controling this.. my mother board is MSI p5n sli thanks | ||

| Sempr0n? | It's Intel SpeedStep. On the Core 2 chips, SpeedStep automatically reduces your multiplier to 6x to save power and reduce heat output when the extra processing grunt isn't needed. You should be able to turn it off in the BIOS if you so desire. | |
