| I don't know if anyone here has done this as well. I added another 80mm fan on top of my existing stock 478 Intel CPU cooler. So that's two fans now on the cooler (sorry, no pics). Is this overkill? My CPU temp before the additional fan averaged around 36 degrees Celsius at idle. Now it seems to be averaging around 32 degrees Celsius at idle, I don't know how accurate these readings are. I'm using motherboard monitor. Would the differences of the CFM of the CPU fan as well as the one I added affect the temps and cooling power? Should they both push out the same or is it better to have one higher than the other? Anyway, thanks for reading... | ||

| Those temps dont seem to bad... Your better off running a single high output fan instead of stacking 2 so close together. You didnt specify what size fans your running but im figuring thay're 60mm. A better option is to get an adapter and run an 80 or 90mm fan. It'll be quiter and provide more airflow. Heres an adapter 60mm to 80mm Aerodynamic Fan Adaptor - Blue - FrozenCPU.com Heres a good fan with a speed controller, these move some serious air and last for ever. Just dont run it off the Mobo connector to be safe. Thermaltake 80mm Blue LED Smart Fan (A2016) - FrozenCPU.com Or for about $25 you could get a new cooler | ||

Thanks for the heads up...I was happy with my temps before adding the second fan...just wanted to experiement a little...I've had my eyes on the Zalman 9500 CPU cooler to match the one I have on my video card...(the Zalman 700CU)... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The 2 fans will create more static pressure which will push more air through a restrictive heatsink. Another way to increase pressure is with a thicker fan. Those stock 60mm fans tend to be pretty thin 10 or 15mm. Try sticking a 60x60x25mm on, or do the adapter. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | im also planning to do this. im planning to build a rig. the fan that i will be using for the proc is either the gigabyte rocket II or the arctic freezer pro 7. on top of that, 5-6 inches higher is another fan which is 5 by 5 inches which is a 240 volts fan that has a plug. will this be more effective? | |
