Artic Silver 5 on North/South Bridge?

So I just got a ASUS P5N-E SLI Which I've been told has some chip heat issues, would you recommend putting AS5 on the chip Heatsinks?

Yes, I did on mine before I RMA'd it for being sh1te...lol.

I put a small chipset heatsink on the SB and a Thermalright HR-05 on the northbridge. NB temp didn't go above 30c according to the BIOS and Speedfan, even over 1.5v.

I really hope you don't have all the issues I did with that board...

The board is alright. I'm getting random issues here and there that I'm still trying to deal with. Things like it refusing to hibernate/bsods/ctds etc. It's BSOD'd three times today @ 3.2ghz - in fact, it BSOD'd earlier while I was trying to type this message.

The northbridge gets extremely hot when overclocking, so I would absolutely recommend getting a new 'sink, preferably a ThermalRight HR-05. Even with that, and AS5, it's still uncomfortable to touch.

Hmm, I was thinkin about that, I'll have to look into it. Cause the stock cooler on the 8800GTS is loud! And I've got a VF-700Cu laying around but no way to attach all the RAM sinks to it.

i had issues till i updated to bios revision 0407, and swapped my ram to the other slots (black, i think) now i have a rock-stable 3.15 clock, no bsod, no issues. not to hijack your thread (payback, huh?)dreyco, but what has everyone heard about nvidia's latest 8800gtx drivers? i've been running on the 96.98 alienwares i found since the others were giving me issues.

where the hell did you find the newest BIOS version I can only find 0401 when I search for an hour!

0401 is the new one.

Motivator most likely meant 0307, which I believe is to be avoided. I even had problems with the 0401 and found 0202 to be stable, even if it does have a FSB wall of about 450.

Same here - but I only do the AS epoxy when I know my board is good and just tryin' for that last bit. I never had good luck with cutting AS epoxy with AS5 where it was still removable.

Yeah, I think that was a typo. My RAM's back in the black slots Dex, just seeing if those 3 BSODs i got yesterday was to do with putting them in the the two nearest the CPU or not.
