| I know, i know... another "which should i buy" question but im REALLY stumped on this one... I will be upgrading my cooling in a month or so and was wondering what would be the best option... System is: P4 3.06 - which i want to clock the shizznit out of 6600GT - again... aggressive O/C is in order here... Gigabyte 8IPE1000P-G mobo with 1Gb corsair ram Budget of under £100 hopefully and i want to improve both CPU and GPU cooling. Ive already got a Zalman 7000AlCu LED on the CPU & Zalman Vf700 AlCu on the GPU Everyone here seems to rave about either the TT Big Typhoon or Noctua NH-U12 but ive been looking around and there seems to be one chunk of metal that is out performing everything... Scythe Ninja... there is a direct comparison with the Noctua here which is well worth checking out. Would love to see a PCX review of this beast see what our guys make of it... Im not sure if its worth upgrading the Vf700AlCu to the all copper version... and im gutted the Vf900 wont fit on my card as its AGP. As there are no other aftermarket coolers available i guess im stuck there. (Unless i do some sort of ghetto Mod and make my 7000AlCu fit on my GPU!!! hehe )Now... could i get a water setup that would out perform any of those options for that budget? my thinking is no. plain and simple. But maybe someone else has some thoughts? What about just cooling the CPU for now with the possibility of expanding to GPU later? Thanks Mark | ||

| Well... this (German) review places them very close together.... with a slight lead for the Ninja; http://www.hartware.de/review_520_1.html I guess they are both great coolers... TDR | ||

| Apex Master Tech Apprentice | I have one and it works like a dream. Before I had a only an Intel screamin orb that would not get below 45*C in bios. (because the Vapo micro I bought couldn't get good contact because of the lame-ass mounting system for it [LGA 775]. Temps would spike to 65*C in bios, before the fail-safe I set up killed power) Installed the Ninja with a Silvy FM121, never had a problem with temps below 50*C, (in winter they could get down in the mid 30's--load) I'd recommend a Noctua though-- There's a couple of problems with the ninja. 1) Fins are goofy and flimsy (Watch when handling or you may need a bottle of Iodine) 2) You'll swear yourself blue in the face when trying to mount it, then purple when you try to lock in the fan. | |
