ok here is the question and it might be dumb to some but i have to know.I really like the new or somewhat new Zalman cnps7000 and its for a P4 or Amd 64 chip.now here is the question though could it or would it also work with other Amd chips..say a barton or 1700xp and if so why r why not?the only thing that i could think of is that maybe the mounting holes might be spaced differenly.so tel lme what ya think or know about this animal.here is alink if anyone has not seen it.

Im gonna have to say no it isnt. from looking at the pictures the mounting clip looks pretty small. like the 478 socket and if i remember right the new amd socket is pretty small too.

yes, but they differ in fundamental design. The P4 had a small pad, but mounts a giant cooler. Four screws in the mobo attach a bbig plastic mount, which the hsf sits on. I'm guessing the athlon64/opteron is cooled the same way, judging from the pics i've seen.
