sk7 tt smartfan 2 why is it sooo hot??

i have an SK7 with the thermaltake smart fan 2, on my xp 2100+ OD'ed to 2.25ghz @ 70w and my idle temp is 43C while my load temp is 51C. my fan is running at 4100rpms which is about 63cfms, and my ambient temp is 72F. do these temps sound right? also when i lower my speed to 2.1ghz it pushes 60w and my idle temp is only three degrees lower at 40C. it seems like at no matter what speed i set it at, it doesnt go much below 38 idle even at stock speeds, and shouldnt that be its load temp at stock? what could be wrong?

To much thermal Paste? I personally don't think those are too bad of temps... Currently im running a 1800+ on stock H/S at 40 degrees.

what kind of thermal compound are you using? have you tryed taking your HSF off and reapplying thermal compound and checking your temps again?

your ambient is 72f but what's the case temp.

asnyway those temps seem alright considering your OC'd by 500mhz.

hellll yeah!
i just reaplied the AS compound much thinner than before and it is running 35C at 2.2ghz and now i have it up to 2.4ghz @ 40C idle.... thats 78w. damn this is tiet.. my case temp is 34C... it doesnt feel like that though...

Your reason is because YOUR OVERCLOCKED duh! Thats about right for an SK-7 I suppose. My SLK-800 /w TT SmartFan II keep my 1800+ @ 1.84ghz @ 58watts cool at around 34idle, 40load. Your SK-7 is about on par I guess then.
