Default Stop the noise!!!

OK so i have a little shuttle that i just love! However the thing only has one 60mm fan and it's so noisy i can't sleep with on. I don't seem to have a heat problem at all, i'm running a Via chip. What can i do to cut down the noise? I'm starting to lose my hearing.

It seems like the fan is vibrating the case causing the noise... anything i can do about that?

If vibration is the problem get yourself some small rubber washers...maybe they call them gromets from your local hardware store. Best 30 cents I ever spent on my rig.

grab a stealth fan like godzilla said ,if there is any of the drilled out holes protecting the fan cut those out and replace it with a wire grill protector, and add some rubber grommets between the fan and case ,you can get those at a hardware store ....that should get you a good nights sleep

Two words: Britney Spears.
I put together an old 200MHz Pentium MMX from parts I have.
The PSU(a 200W ATX Delta) is as loud as a vacuum cleaner(no wonder, it has one big and powerful 80mm Delta fan).
I started the music, and I can't hear the PSU.

Another extreme, is getting some dynamat (used to dampen vibrations from 1337 car stereos) and line your case with it

you could also get an adapter 60mm to 80/92mm and use a slower speed fan that puts out the same CFM's at a lower noise level.

Well i tossed in the rubber washers. It has helped some but i'm thinking i need to switch to a vantec stealth as well. As for the Dynamat, would that up my temps? There isn't much room to play around with in there. also there is no where near enough room to put in an 80/92mm addaptor and fan, saddly. Thanks for the idea though Buzz! Oh and btw Maverick... it's she, not he.

Dont know how much they would up the temps, but I think dynamat would a bit. I know they make something similar just for PC cases, dunno the name, or if it would increase temps..
