| I just got the thermaltake volcano ducting mod for my volcano 9. It actually does help lower temperatures, and lowers the noise a little bit.. heres a crappy pic of it installed and runny, and yes I have messy wires, case is pretty small inside Before this mod I had load temps around 48C and idle temps around 43C (digidoc probe, cant remember the MBM ones) The mesurements were given 10 minutes for each Fan on full (~5300RPM according to MBM) Case temp is 22C right now Load (running folding @ home): 40C digidoc probe, 29C according to MBM.. idle: 37C digidoc probe (25C according to MBM) Fan on low (~1200 RPM accrding to MBM) Load 55C digidoc probe (42C according to MBM) idle 47C digidoc probe (36C according to MBM) So this thing actually does work, Id recommend it to anyone with a volcano series hsf. Pain in the arse to install while to heatsink is still on (I have to remoce my psu to get it off, too lazy) And I only paid $15 CDN for it at bigfootcomputers -> http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Merc...y_Code=0005.50 Just thought I'd post this for any volcano users out there still ![]() EDIT: Forgot the pic beside my tri-led fan packaging ![]() in case ![]() Last edited by hawklen; 09-May-03 at 12:01 PM.. | ||

| No problem..forgot to upload the pics I took, so they are there now I was surprised at the results I got, I have my fan on medium, and its a bit lower than when (before duct mod) i had it on high..EDIT: I have it angled the other way then the instructions told me, due to psu being in the way dammit just notice my spelling error of volcaon..damned c and v keys being so close!! | ||

| You know, I bet you could make your own with a small pvc 45 deg. elbow. and a dead fan. Take the dead fan and cut out the fan and it's supports so that only the square part is still there. screw that to the heatsink, and glue/epoxy the elbow to it. Then glue/epoxy your heatsink fan to the other end. | ||

| My case sucks for airflow..too cramped, get better temps with the side off. If you look at the pic I posted, you can see that the duct is angled downward, so it sucks the cooler air, then if it was angled upward, which would suck warmer air, since everyone knows, hot air rises.. ![]() | ||
