| Something I learned today while lapping my new Alpha Pal8045T heat sink. The bottom of it is milled '"flat" (it looks flat and is somehat shinny with some tell tale circular milling tracks left over). So, I figured I would give it an easy lapping with 1000 grit and that would be that... Hahahaha... After about 5 min of lapping I take a look at it and theres this nice circular spot in the center of the HS that still has the milling tracks on it! So, I whipped out my 600 grit with a quickness and got to work. Well 600 seems to hav done the spot without too much over kill and I'm just about to finish it off with 1500 grit (I used 1000 and 1200 grit on it also). I will be posting some pics of it in my Hive project thread.![]() | ||

| When I lapped the bottom of my heat pipe, it took forever, (1 hour before I gave up) then when I started in on the processor, the top of my P4 took less than 30 seconds rubbin' to get a big copper spot on it. I was afraid to do more than polish it up, for fear I would go through into the silly con. | ||
