Default sk-7 52C ??temp?? 2.25 ghz 2100+ tbred-b

i have a 2100+ tbred b overclocked to 2.25ghz @15 x 150 at 1.700V.... its getting 48 c idle and 52 c full load.... i have an sk-7 with an 80mm fan but im not sure of the cfms... does this seem like normal temps for my overclock? it runs pretty darn stable but if i could get the temps down, could i get even higher oc's ..... or just more stability?

i have arctic 3 paste...

sounds about right with your 400mhzOC, a little high for some people but it's not at 60c which is where AMD says the chips might become unstable.

how are your case temps?

how stable is it, will it run prime95 with no errors?

I have an SLK-800 with a 1800+ running @ 1.84ghz and I am getting temperatures between 40 and 45, keep in mind my CPU temperature is the same as my case temperature, so it just varies as to how hot my case is. Yours seems a tad bit high, maybe you got some fingerprints on your heatsink, or applied a lil too much thermal paste. My 300mhz OC produces only negligable more head, 11watts more to be exact.

well my ambient temp is 79F or 26C.... how thick about, does the thermal paste have to be?

put a dot on the core of the cpu then spread it thin with a credit card or someting thin like that and dont touch the heatsink with your fingers cause it makes bad heat transfer( i just learned that from banana boy )

Half grain of rice is what you put down, and then spread it out. No more... I use toothpicks to spread it out, but that's because I have an abundance of japanese toothpicks in my cupboard.

i put a tad less than a grain of rice so i think thats a fine thickness. do you mean that if there is a finger print on the bottom of the sink where it is supposed to come in contact with the cpu?? it doesnt matter if there is a print on the side right?

HAHA. Hey I'm half Japanese, half Russian, gimme some of my toothpicks. . Funny thing is, if your getting 52c on that, and I'm getting 63c without a fan running on my 1800+ @ 1.84ghz, then something is reaaaaaaaaaly wrong. I say that you put too much thermalpaste on. That AS3 stuff also takes time to drop temps after being applied, give it two weeks or so. It needs to thickenup n' stuff.

Of course it doesn't matter if you get a fingerprint on the side, hell I got tons on this SLK-800 on the side, but not even a spec on the bottom, not even any dust, one peice of dust will really **** you over.

Actually it needs time to harden up and fill the pores in the copper, and that usually takes 3 days or so of continuous cpu usage.... ie. Folding@Home.
I'm gettin 45C loaded on a palomino core @ 1.67 with a retail sink and arctic silver 3 so I really have no idea why you're pushin so hot with what you've got... unless your fan really sucks ass.

well my fan might suck ass, it is very silent... i sorta found it in my box of old computer stuff...... and i really am going to get a new one... i just barely had enough money to get my mobo, processor and sk-7 and only a couple dolars to spare...... well if the new fan doesnt work then i guess ill just re-apply the thermal paste and see how everything works then

A new fan might be a good idea, can you supply the stats on the fan? or at least what it says on the label, from there i can look up the stats.....

depending on what your using you might want something with just a little more airflow. You can pick up a decent high flow fan for only a few bucks...

And remember once you install the ASIII (if thats what you using, it takes about 100 hours to obtain optimal thermal transfer

I think my mobo (or is it reading the thermal diode in the cpu?) on my Asus A7N8X is reading 32C load (folding@home running) but i have a digidoc probe nestled up to the side of the core reading 45C. I dont know which is right.

btw I use a razor to spread my Artic Silver 3.

you're readin the wrong temp if its 32c on load with air cooling... mbm uses the diode on the cpu, after you patch it.
