| I've been running my X2 3800+ overclocked at 2.6Ghz with 1.525 volts for quite some time now. While my old Zalman 7000B-Cu has served me admirably for nearly a year, but full load at 51 degrees celcius was too high for my safety zone. I just don't feel safe with running water cooling right now, so I instead picked up a Zalman CNPS9500 HSF from the Egg. Unfortunately, I hadn't ordered it sooner, so I had to wait over the whole damn weekend just to get it tonight! AHH!! Well, it finally came while I was taking a nap at 3:45, and I immediately rushed down the stairs to grab the box. I then saved all my F@H progress and shut down. I pulled everything apart, and started reading the instructions. Oops, I needed to have the stock mounting hardware on it for it to work! I then had to run upstairs and pull apart my 3200+ setup to get the stock hardware off. After swapping everything, I got the HSF installed. My God, this thing is H U G E! Wait until I get the pics online (in a bit). After installing everything back in, as well as the new black light I had also bought from the Egg, I got everything set up. I then fired this baby up. Success! I jumped into the BIOS and confirmed that it had been installed correctly. My fan settings had somehow reset themselves, so I set it back, and booted into Windows. After launching both F@H instances, I gave it a minute and opened up Speedfan. It's sitting at ~39 degrees full load, and has stayed there for about 30 minutes now! I LOVE this new cooler. Not only does it perform WAY better than my old 7000, it looks way cooler to boot! *EDIT* I'll have the pictures uploaded later tonight. I'm going out to dinner, and i'm gonna meet Grandpanoob! *UPDATE* I bumped the voltage to 1.55, and it's at the same temp! It's also Prime95 stable for over 2 hours now. I'll get pics of GNoob in a bit. He's at the house right now. Last edited by Ator; 21-November-05 at 09:46 PM.. | ||

| PICS!!! -------------------------------------------------- The mobo!!! A close up of my X2. Damn sexy: Look at the difference between the two HSF's! Close-up of the fan: Here is the 9500 installed on my motherboard. Damn it's huge! The heatpipes: Another shot of the heatpipes: Here is a shot of the fins. It's literally like 2 7000B-Cu's put together. Also, look at how the heatpipes run through the fins: Lastly, here is a shot of the rig with everything installed. --- Of course, you all want to see GrandpaNoob! | ||

Excellent choice, man. You won't be disappointed. I bet 3Ghz+ won't be an issue with this thing. BTW, welcome to Pimprig! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Grandpa isn't a grandpa, sorry... Basically, the military has aged me beyond my years (or at least it feels that way to me), in terms of my knees and back, and I feel old enough to be someone's "grandpa" when I get up some mornings. I know enough to know I don't know enough, therefore the "noob" in the name... Soon as I get up to Kansas, I'll post up some of the pics I took of Ator's machine (as further proof that I was actually there). Had a great evening out with Ator and Lwrs10+SO (also met turbo later | ||
