Default Will SLK-900U fight on MSI KT3 Ultra2-R (MS-6380E)

I was wondering if the SLK-900U heatsink from thermalright will fit on my MSI KT3 Ultra2-R (MS-6380E) motherboard or not. Nowhere on Thermalrights website does it mention anything if it will or not, but I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure if it can or can't. Thanks.

well if i remember right, the SLK-900 uses 4 mounting screws to mount it to the board. From what I can see of a picture of your board it does not have those mounting holes. If it does then it should fit.

Ummm its got 4 small mounting holes, but the question is will it fit, I need to know before I buy, otherwise I'll have to get the SLK-800. I dunno if I should get a new heatsink or not because I dunno how long till the Athlon-64's come out and what their speeds are going to be. I dunno if it's worth dumping more money into my rig at the time being, or not. Does anyone know the speeds of the Athlon-64?

Look at my post in your other thread. As for the sink. It looks like it will clear those capacitors on each side. The sink wil mount up and down, but the fins will be from left to right.

Which other thread? LOL, I am confused as to which thread you are referring to. Are you certain it would fit? Why is it that the socket on my motherboard is vertical instead of horizontal, because most motherboards are horizontal, yet mine is vertical. I need to verify that it fits before I buy it, so I'm asking for anyones help on this.

Took about 30 seconds to find this on Google.

Did you even look?

I realise it's for the BR not the R, but the dimensions should all be the same I'd imagine.

I was talking about the athlon64 thread you started. It looks like it will fit to me. Im not very good figuring out measurements and stuff but just with my eye it looks ok to me.

I would venture to say we all don't run MSI KT3 Ultra's.
Looks like the only thing holding you back is a possible conflict with your power cord... but, it's just wires... easy to move out of the way.

Alrighty, should I just go for it? If I buy it, and it doesn't fit do you think I'd be able to return it? I am buying from www.memoryexpress.com since its local and the price is fair.

I don't know, man. That sounds like a lot of hassle for something that MIGHT fit. If I were you, I'd check out a few other sites and forums to investigate.
But I ain't you, so do what you will and reap the whirlwind.

Nevermind, just found it. I emailed them the following:

Well it's not posted in your supported Socket-A motherboards, but I was wondering if the SLK-900U would fit on my MSI KT3 Ultra2-R (MS-6380E). It seems odd that you only include a few manufactures and don't even take to mind the others, therefore that's why I am wondering if it is or isn't.

Thanks,

Ian Griffin
