| I'm been hearing rave reviews about both of these coolers, but I kinda suck when it comes to looking at benchmarks and going "This is better than that". Both coolers are about 75 depending on where you look, and I'm already pretty set on the Fatal1ty GPU cooler, so points for the matching set, can anyone help me out with a comparison of these two? | ||

I'm kinda hoping for someone who can read benchmarks to give me a more definitive answer, although, I'm betting the answer will be anything but definitive (two equally priced coolers, same company, same technological generation).

| I don't think anyone could give a definite answer because they've never been compared on the same test bench as far as I know, however between those two I would go with the 9500 simply for the noise factor. The difference in performance between the two will likely have little impact on overall overclock. | ||

| How can you not read benchmarks, especially with this kind of thing... Look at a review... see which heatsink has the lowest temperature.. You have to compare it with similar processors though... preferrably a review comparing the two head on, with exact same system specs. | ||

| Actually, there are reviews of both (and so much more) here... The Fatal1ty FS-C77 and the CNPS9500 also, since the FS-C77 is essentially a CNPS 7700Cu with dyed/painted fins plus a red LED, you might take a look at the review for the CNPS 7700AlCu and the one for the CNPS 7000A Cu To me, what it all boils down to is that the fins on the Fatal1ty are painted and dyed, and they added an LED or two. Does that justify the price hike? Not really, even if the fans are beefed up a bit compared to their non-Fatal1ty counterparts. You could just get a 7700 and ink/paint the edges of the fins (and the same for the GPU cooler) with UV-reactive ink, get Lokie and Co over at Dragonmodz to hook you up with a nice replacement UV LED fan (maybe, dunno) or use a couple of those UV tri-LED lights that can be aimed at whatever they're supposed to light up... | ||

| Just surfed Zalman's site and lo and behold they actually quote C/W values: Fatal1ty FS-C77: Thermal Resistance: 0.17°C/W CNPS9500 LED:Thermal Resistance: Silent Mode (18.0dB ± 10%)=0.16 °C/W, Low-noise Mode( 27.5dB ± 10%)=0.12 °C/W No mention of testing procedure / equipment though. ![]() The winner looks to clearly be the 9500 (assuming both coolers were tested on the same testbed).....better performance with less noise. WTF is the point of the Fatal1ty line anyway???.....It costs the same (which is way too much), performs worse, is louder, weighs almost twice as much, is much bulkier, and disrupts case air cross-flow. I miss anything? I hate pimp hats.... | ||

Riiiight.. Where do you see that it performs worse? It's the exact same shape and material as it's non-fatality version.. so how is it heavier? The 7700 and the FS-C77 are the exact same heatsinks, only the fatality is a different color and has a high performance fan... I see nothing wrong with this.

| You know, not to take the unpopular side of the argument here, but I do understand about that HardOCP article put out a few months ago about how there should be either a standardized rating system or no rating system, but I think there should be a review site gold standard for hardware benchmarks that would be updated something like every 6 months. That way people wouldn't have to guess what prime95 score beats what doom3 time demo. | ||

You are confused. Don't let the bold, blue, jumbo, and italicized lettering throw you off....all statements in my previous post (including my basis for saying the 9500 performs better) were relating the 9500 and FS-C77, since they are equally priced. There is no mention of the 7700. Gzim--No need for standardization of temperature measurements. Performance data is given.....one only has to read instead of scrolling directly to the end. Subjective ratings are for the lazy.

Aww, crap, I knew I couldn't join a forum without starting a flame war, so I'll try and say this in the least flaming way possible... Ahem, I mean to say, Sir, I humbly believe that your thoughts on my post are incorrect, as you have obviously misread my very clearly worded posting on this fair website of yore. But seriously, I meant to say that the ratings are a bit iffy, but a standard of benchmarking hardware, (as in standard mobo, processor, and ram for testing something like a new graphic card) In honest admission, I have to say that I... 1. Do read reviews like I do magazines, start at the end, and work my way back (this is mostly because the bottom line for me is price which is usually on the last page) 2. Do often write posts that are often very badly worded and very unclear 3. Have no idea what the word 'yore' means 4. Have much too much time on my hands to answer a small insult at me with such a pointless answer 5. Am currently wearing my mother's fur coat before I go out with 3 chicks to a holloween party as a pimp
