Default Afrotech's Ghetto Ramsinks

I saw Afrotech's ghetto ramsinks

http://www.afrotechmods.com/ram.htm

And as the daughter of a CMU-grad metallurgist, I know in theory it should work. But does it really? It would be awesome to make some serious ramsinks for so little $$! Has anyone tried it? What about all my fave gurus? What is your consensus?

I've seen this article too. Afrotech's one of my favorites!
Seems like you would need more heat transfer than plain super glue would give you, and thermal epoxy isn't cheap or ghetto enough.
I dont have any extra temp sensors on hand, but I've got some on order
My plan is to use a penny size depression (done) on a board to mount for sanding. then smooth the pennies (mostly done) with a trim sander.
as soon as the thermal epoxy and sensor arrive in the mail, I'll post some numbers.
anybody else getting in on this?

What about something by Arctic Silver? I know that's that's not exactly "ghetto" but it's certainly cheaper!

Given some Artic silver thermal expoxy (or somthing simalar) And some new shiny pennies ( as the are partly copper). you might gain some benifit , though it would be decresed as you stack on the pennies and add layers of thermal exopxy.

Now maybe if you could melt them down and form a sink

although that is how many degree's necessary to melt copper, i have melted pennies at lower temps, in my chem class in HS... i think it is because 1) Pennies arent pure copper, and 2) The inside element will break out (thus disolving many chemical bonds) if you heat it up with a bunson and stick it in cold water, the temp change works!
