Is Active Cooling the Northbridge nessary?

I was just wondering if Activly Cooling hte northbridge really nessary? I have a pretty decent sized aluminum heatsink already on it but i was wonderin if like a thermaltake blueorb would be worth the noise i dont mind some noise so yeah...does it really improve much anyways?

Only on chipsets such as the new i865 and the i875 may active cooling provide any benefit. These new chipsets run extremely hot.

unless you are pushing the FSB, or have Onboard GFX there isn't a need for active cooling on the NB.

Heh. I too have a VIA chipset. It did get warm, but not enough to need active cooling...unless your abnormal like me and have to cool EVERYTHING
