Default What can i expect??

alrighty, since i got bit by the O/Cing bug (thanks Lwrs ) i wanted to get my wonderful CPU a bit mroe cooling, so i went with the Zalman CNPS7700-CU with some Artic Silver 5 to go along with it.

Right now, i have a AMD643000+ running @ 2.2Ghz (roughly, 3500+ speeds/performance). I have an idle temp of about 32C adn a load temp ranging from 42-46C. Was jsut wondering what kind of temp decrease i'd expect...Plus, from what ive read the 7700CU is very quiet and *should* be a lot quieter than the stock heatsink/fan taht I ahve in there now...

Eventually i'm goign to get the Videocard cooler counterpart from Zalman, but thats a bit down the line.

was jsut wondering what you fellow pimps have experienced with the same heatsink/fan...

Thanks in advance!

I wish I could figure out how to overclock my processor, I got a Venice 3200+.

From 200x10 to 221x10..thats all I can get stable :S

My load temp with my stock amd heatsink is 38c and I idle around 29-32c. I feel no need to get a new heatsink with my feeble little 210 overclock, but with my past run-ins with Zalman products you should be set to go to at least 2.4-6 GHz.

If only Necro could come to my house and help me figure this stuff out.

Good luck with further OC's NCXC.

Tycoon, is it possible your Ram is the limiting factor in your build?
Or is it a possibility that the motherboard in your system is a lime?
(Decent board, but for whatever reason~ doesn't have any real legs.)

I'd start by placing sinks on each and every exposed chip with Arctic Alumina thermal epoxy, and upgrading the NB heatsink (and/or replacing the thermal interface.)

I hope it's the power regulation chips Tycoon, because that would be the least expensive.

Good luck

You've got a nice OC going on. Anything else is just gravy.

Woohoo, my new HS/F and a tube of Artic Silver 5 are waiting for me at home . Can't wait to see what it'll do with my O/C and temps

Another question....since all AMD64s come with that backplate on every motherboard...am I still going to ahve to remove the entire motherboard to install this HS/F? Or will i just be able to screw it in regardless. If i have to remove the motherboard, its not biggied, i'd just like to know before hand, if i do or not.

You shouldn't have to remove your motherboard, but it depends on how heavy the cooler is. Anything over 700g should probably be secured using the backplate for support.

I use a Gigabyte 3D Rocket Pro, which weighs in at about 500g I think. I didn't have to remove my motherboard to install it.

Nine out of ten times people forget to adjust the LDT ratio, and wonder why there AMD-64 won't OC.

Stock is 5, drop it to 4..then try it again.

You can reach me on MSN if you need more help

Ok, i got the New Zalman installed..i did have to take out the whole motherboard....since i had the stock hs/f on and the normal AMD locking pins in...i had to switch all that out so i could get the Zalman on...

anyways, after finding out my BIOS is finicky as hell (thanks again lwrs10). I'm now sitting at my previous O/C with an idle temp of 27 and a load of 36....my previous idle and loads were 32/45

needless to say, This zalman kicks ass!

Ya i have a zalman 7700CU you should also get the video card one if your going to oc that
I have a question for some pimprig members. I lost a nipple to my zalman video card its the one that screws to the back then a screw screws into it to hold the brace. What should I do? I've had this heatsink for about 3 months or so.

Warning to fools who did not heed above warning:
Remember to keep super glue on hand at all times, have first-rate health insurance and always keep in mind the wonders of reconstructive surgery.

Ps.
Zalman VF700-Cu VGA Cooler... $27.50

Internet Connection $9.95

Being Razzed for using a double entendre involving body parts in an online forum: PRICELESS

Additional note: Thanks $SOLID$ Necro, I wish everyone more people had that type of humour at least once in awhile.
