Red face Better case fan configuration?

I'm trying to choose between two cases right now and I am basically choosing them based on the spots and sizes of fans in the case. I want the best cooling solution I can get. For both cases I will be attempting to add a top blow hole. Wanna give me your choice of which fan to get?

Case 1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811217003
1 - 120mm front fan
1 - 120mm rear fan
1 - 80mm side panel fan

Case 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156032
1 - 120mm front fan
2 - 80mm rear fan
1 - 80mm side panel fan w/ wide tunnel

How much room is there going to be between the PSU and the CD-Rom. I cant get a very good idea of space in those. That is one thing. Also, do you mind being able to hear. If not, i suggest a vantec tornado. if you do, then ill suggest an Enermax. I have had a ton of those fans. Quiet and they push alot of air. Model will be depending on what size we can get in there. (80mm-92mm-120mm)

Default noise don't make much a difference

This computer will be for my dorm room - and I'm accustomed to having a lot of noise anyway, so noise isn't really a concern for me. The way I see it is that two 80mm fans are able to move more air than a 120mm fan. I guess the real question are two 80mm fans better or one 120mm?

Here's a case that's gotten great reviews on cooling and it's in BTX style

That's an awesome case, HighPerf, but it also runs about 5 times what his two examples do!

Loki1, both of the cases you linked to above are premods, and not particularly well-known brands. Those cases might have quality issues, and won't have some good features that will really help with your installation and cooling issues.

Some alternatives you might consider (in roughly the same price range) are:

Aspire X-Dreamer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144122
Antec SLK 3000 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129152
Cooler Master Cavalier http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119075

These are just examples, so make sure to do your research on them first.

I'm willing to bet that those will have better overall construction than the first ones you linked. They may not be as flashy, but you've already mentioned that you're going to mod the case, right? I think that if you are cutting a blowhole as well, any of these cases will have plenty of cooling power. My rig at home has a single 80 mm intake high CFM fan and a single 120 mm output, and the case temps run about 8 deg C above room temp. Just make sure to work on your cables to maximize airflow through the case. As long as you're cutting a blowhole, you can definitely cut a window (IMHO it's easier than a blowhole), and maybe even give it a new paintjob if you'd like. Take a look around at what some of the people on this site, and I'm sure you'll catch the modding bug. That way the finished project will be an original Loki1, and not a factory job

Thanks for the advice. Can Bionic or anyone tell me which is better the Antec or the Cooler Master. I found a lot of mixed reviews concerning the Cooler Master - mainly issues with the cooling, and almost nothing about the Antec SLK3000. I can't decide between them and I think they're both great cases I will prolly be getting one instead of the earlier ones I posted. On a side note, I'm just a beginning modder and I don't have any real plans right now save for a blow hole . Thanx guys!!

Ahhhhhhh........But he did say he wanted the best cooling solution and for air cooling that case is the best.

You know what Loki1? Your username is almost exactly the same as one of our staff members. If you would like to change it to something else I can do that without modifying any of the posts you've already made or affecting anything else. I recommend that you take me up on this offer otherwise there may be some confusion in the future when you post.

Yeah, you are right Highperf. I was drooling over that Lian-Li for a long time.

Loki1, you'll have to decide for yourself, based on whatever research you can find and what you feel like will work out best for your situation. On some level it's always sort of a crap shoot, unless you can find a brick-and-mortar shop selling some of these cases so you can take a look at them for yourself.

I don't like those cases. i like to start with a plain white case for the feeling of knowing there is no other one like mine. But i did find a cheaper case about like yours for $29.99 it's a 10-Bay Matrix ATX Window Case w/450-Watt PS (Silver) at http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...P702-2&cat=CAS.
hope u might save some money.

i almost forgot to tell you on all the cases u are looking at (this one to) theres nothing bringing air in on the lower half of the case. I like a fan in the back lower corner.
