I have a Thermalright (not ThermalTake) on my AN7, and love it. The model I have (SLK900U) is no longer sold, but if I had to replace it with a new one, I'd get the SI-97A. For a fan, I personally like the Enermax 92mm, since it's got a built-in speed controller. That way, you can get the right balance of quiet-to-cooling, even if you don't have a fanbus. With that setup, I'd bet you'd never hear it again.

For a comparison of Socket A heatsinks, see this chart at Overclockers.com.

EDIT: You're right, the Zalman 7000 Compatibility Chart does state that it won't work with the AN7. Depending on why that is, you might be able to mod it to work, but it's taking a chance. (Reasons it may not work with some boards: The mounting bracket may run into capacitors on the motherboard, or the fins may run into the video card, or the socket may be too close to the edge of the board, making the fins run into the case or power supply.)

So the other day i was in my local PC club and i ran across a thermal take fan that was alot quieter than mine so i bought it... It is a thermaltake Silent Cat. it is a 90mm fan that is down' with the sickness (lol) it came with an adapter for my 80mm and without a doubt i can hear the difference unfortunately it moves the same amount of air so it isn't any cooler but hey i can live with it cause of the noice is gone
