Question Overheating Pent 4

I have a Pentium 4, 3 gig processor on an Intel MB D845PEBT2
with 512 MB Corsair XMS
GF4 Ti4200 vid card
Using a Koolance watercooled case
with a Danger Den III waterblock.
WinXP

This was meant to run temporarily till I have my new rig finished.

The comp will run fine sit at 32c until I game, or run something processor intensive. Heck, I was backing up my hd with PowerQuest Drive Image which goes into the DOS sim.
I could sit and watch the temp climb and climb in a matter of minutes until the alarms go off.
I can't to anything except web and word without making the temp scream.
It can reach 49c in 10 min or less.

To the benefit of Koolance, I am running a liquid that is the consistancy of WD40 that is meant for cooling electronic parts. It's a non con duck tive fluid. But is is a bit thicker than water.

I am thinking I will drain the liquid and try going back to water to see if that will help, but the liquid is a bit X-pensive and hard to come by. Has to be handled with gloves on etc...So I am hesitating there.

I know that the 3 gig is new and there arent many that have experience with this core. But if you have seen anything like this in your surfing, it would help to be pointed towards it.

I bet the water will make a big difference. THe flow of that stuff in a system designed for a fluid like water must be EXTREMELY slow... I bet that is the culprit.

I'm positive that going to water would help. Drain the fluid and set it somewhere safe. There is no reason that a P4 should be hitting temps that high.

Um maybe your not having proper heatsink contact with the headspreader on the P4.

Well the thermal conductive properties of the liquid in question, if it's what i think it is, is rather much awesome, but the pump impeller of the watercooling equipment normally enountered in cases is um, less than adequate. If you could get a higher flow rate, it wouls almost certainly benefit. Of course, the sheer heat amount generated by that processor seems out of line with the one I worked on this week-it ran under heavy load with only a stock heatsink with nary a warning chirp...
