Default Northbridge cooling

I've got an Asus A7V333 that has a stock Al fin HS on the northbridge. Is there any practical benefit to getting a fan to replace this? (Tt Orb, for example)

Would the gains outweigh adding 25-30 dB to the case?

Wouldn't think so, I have the same board and it still has the heatsink with the long fins. No problems yet. This is just my opinion though. As any chipset goes the cooler the better though. If you overclock she does get warmer.

The biggest difference usually is just in the way it looks. So-Trick Computers, among others, has a good selection of chipset coolers.

I agree that it would look better with the fan, but the added dB makes me hesitate... Just looking for a general consensus.

nope...you will get very little, if absolutly no benifit by adding a new cooler to the chipset.

The north bridge generates very little heat.... only about 6-10W of thermal energy.. Your stock heatsink on your northbridge will give you as much cooling as your need. As they said above, the only thing your will be changing is your look
