| Sup guys, anybody else use the Aerocool DP 102 "Deep Impact"? I'm running it with 2 fans on it on a Barton 2500 and AS5 paste at stock speeds right now and its stayin around 41 degrees C. Every review I have seen on this thing has it down in the mid to low 30s. Was wondering if I was doing anything wrong here. | ||

| Could be a problem with the airflow design of your case...might want to take a look at that. Also, have you double-checked the flow direction of the two fans (i.e., blowing against or away from each other). The most effective way would be for it to blow in from one direction and out from the other, either up towards the intake fan of your psu (if the intake is on the bottom of the fan) or towards your rear exhaust fan. Probably a good idea to have a larger rear exhaust fan than 80mm. That's kinda suprising...the heatsink was made for the Athlon XP 3600+ and higher. Maybe it needs a higher temp to activate the tube? I'm not for sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help, Rob | ||

| OMG that's a horrid looking monster I am teasing a bit, but you gota realize that it's huge, and because of it's higth it adds even more pressure onto the mobo structure. You see, air cooling will only get you two within 10 or so degrees of ambient temps, some closer then others, but there is a limit. So when you look for heatsinks, you need to look at the lower range and then select one that does the job without causing other problems. I suspect the issue is most likely mounting, if you can't get a good mount, it just isn't going to perform. If you are using it in any type of tower case then you are probably going to have mounting problems. The pressure will just be uneven cause the heatsink is so large and tall. | ||

| My Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.4Ghz is running at 30-32 degrees at idle, and 48-50 at full load. Make sure you applied the thermal paste correctly (thin, evenly-spread layer), and check the airflow in your case. It would never hurt to get a case with 120mm intake/exhaust fans. | ||
