Default Couple a Questions...

Alright, I need to decide what to cool the CPU in the new rig I'm building. The CPU is an AMD 2600+ and I was either gonna put a Thermalright SLK800 or SLK900 on it with a 80mm or 92mm Vantec Stealth. My first question, will the SLK900 fit on the Asus A7N8X? I heard it won't... Also with the Stealth be anough to keep it cool and allow for mild overclocking? Or maybe should I go with the Thermoflow(or whatever Vantec's thermally controlled fan is)? Or is there any other fan that is reasonable quiet(within 5Dbs of the Stealth) that would cool significantly better?

The 900 should fit the A7n8x,,,,, the 900 unlike its younger brothers uses the motherboard holes to screw in. The ASUS boards do have the proper mounting system so they should be compatable

The Stealth is fine, but I like the Panaflo's reputation.

Here's the specs:

Vantec Stealth
27 CFM 2050 RPM 21 db

Panaflo L1A
24 CFM 1900 RPM 21 db

Panaflo M1A
32 CFM 2450 RPM 28 db

Any 80mm under 30db is quiet, the SLK-800 is very efficient so the M1A is a great choice, and will handle the stress of low end overclocking.

it sounds like money isn't much of an option, i'd get a vantec tornado and a rheostat to control the speed/noise yourself.
unfortunatly i'm not 100% sure that it will fit in an a7n8x.

The Panaflo M1 is a great fan. $11 at Frozencpu.com. I have a Thermaltake 7 with a heat sensor on it that kinda sucks. It seems like the heat sensor is in the wrong spot because it's kind of far away from the cpu and always runs at about the same rpm no matter what, it's also loud. I actually went the cheap route on my SK-7 with an 80mm fan from www.svc.com that has the same specs as the Panaflo M1 but is on $2.95. Wont know how it works till it gets here.
