Default Best HS For AMD 2600+

Just as the topic states...what's the best HS for an AMD 2600+? I want the highest performance HS for my proc cuz I wanna put a 80mm Vantec Stealth so that the thing is quiet. To make up for the lack of CFM put out by the fan I want the highest performance HS.

SLK-800 is the best air solution, (or one of the very best)

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...tion=SLK%2D800 Newegg has them here. Other sinks are good as well, the Sk-7 The AX-7... but that SLK-800 seems to be the champ right now.

Of course there is the Alpha PAL series......those suckers are mammoth!

GB..I just got an slk 800 for my 2600.I love it!! I was one of those Volcano 7+ guys and I just got tierd of all the noise!. I was running aroung 94-96 F. with the Vol. and after the change it is running around the low 80's. I did put a 80 mm fan on it and it is still like night and day..

I have never seen anyone dissatisfied with the newer Thermalright HSfs, I have the SLK-800 and it is by far the best hs I have ever had and that is a pretty good list. Both the Alpha PAL8045 and Noise Control Silverado are amoung them.

This might piss of you scapegoat, lcpiper, and all you water cooling freaks(hope to be one soon)but The screensavers recomend that heatsink more than water cooling. Just seen them do that last night.

Sh!t Lokie, I could have told you that 3 years ago. I know I could cool just as well with a heatsink and fan. All my other rigs besides my main one are aircooled. But I HAVE to run water in at least one. It's a challenge, it's effective, and the wow factor to the unknowing is priceless. It's also a pain in the ass sometimes, but making it all work is so satisfying.

Me-John, you are sucking wind if all you have is $40 to spend there. But, I lived in Europe for about 15 years, 12 of them in Germany. If you want some info or insight, let me know.

So the difference in temps between a SK-7 and an SLK-800 if using the same fan would be roughly what? 1-2 deg C or so?
