Default CNPS7000A Question

I know it'll fit on the NF7 with some slight cutting of the heatsink to avoid the caps near the heatsink, my question is if anybody here has accomplished this, and if so, how the temps fared with the chop job.

Just asking before I go buy and chop.

John

I've done it on two systems, and if you dont screw over the clip, and reinstall everything alright, you shouldnt notice any change in temps or any problems.

all I have to do is shave off a portion of the underside clip, correct?

Also, how much does it hang over the top of the board? I didn't notice until just now how short my case is.

Why would you have to mess with the fins? All you need to do is take a bit off one end of the mounting clip and it doesn't affect how well it cools at all.

If you hit the Zalman site it shows you how to cut one for the NF7. All you do is take about an inch off one side of the clip, too easy. You will be very, very happy with your new heatsink; especially after running that Volcano.

it might have to wait until later in the day, the girlfriend is coming over and I don't know if I'll have time to get the heatsink AND the handcuffs

Two pairs of handcuffs, a wake, a funeral, and a rennisance faire later....

temps are down almost 10C and it's near silent. Thanks for the help with the mod, I thought I had to cut the 'sink or the mounting brackets, in reality is was maybe 45 seconds under the dremel. Thanks for all the help, guys.
