I mount all my fans with caulking - sounds very ghetto I know, but the peace and quiet is worth it.

I don't get it, how can you mount a 120MM fan on the top of your case without drilling out a hole for it to blow through?

I use rubber grommets which completely suspend the fan on rubber, but if it's just temporary use screws.

Sticku enough to keep a fan on the panel even when mounting and removing regularly but can remove all residue with your finger nail. Best of all it's rubbery and reduces vibrations.

Sounds as though Plumber's Goop would fit the bill perfectly. Way more adhesive than caulking, just as flexible, and clear. Plus, it still is easy to remove if necessary.

Sounds silly, but I really find it to be a very useful household product. I use mine at least once weekly (in non-modding applications).

Adhesive backed velcro would probably work out well.

I've used it with good results on vertically mounted fans, but havent tried it on one suspended horizontally.

The adhesive will stick well to the case itself, but with some fans the mating velcro may need a little help by using flathead screws to mount it to the fan itself.

The velcro makes for a good damper as well as makes fans easy to remove for cleaning.
