| A good one. This question has been asked so many times it's almost second nature by now. The tried-and-true models are the newest ones from Thermalright, Swiftech, and the big ol' Zalman. There are also a few newer heat pipe models which haven't been widely used yet from Aerocool that look promising may want to look into if you feel ambitious. | ||

| The Zalman: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...118-109&depa=1 The Thermalright: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...109-011&depa=1 The Aerocool: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...183-107&depa=1 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...183-109&depa=1 The Swiftech: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...108-020&depa=1 You'll have to double-check compatibility because I was kinda rushing. | ||

| I have the Swiftech HSF (w/ 92mm fan attached) and I have gotten an XP 2000+ (DUT3C) up to 2.34GHz stable before my temps got very high.... and this is with VERY inadequate case airflow. So I'm happy with it. But the only reason I didn't get the Zalman was that it would not fit my case due to the proximity of the PSU. You may want to take that into consideration as well before leaping into the Zalman..... it is huge. | ||

| Apex Techie I | I've bought all the best Heatsinks and Swiftech is tops in my book. They may cost a little more but you get what you pay for with the Swiftech. Ultimate Quality Bar None. No lapping required and it will run as cool as you can get without vaporphase or deep freeze cooling. | |

| That'll work just fine, although you might want to look around and see if you can find a fan with a better CFM:noise ratio, but since it probably won't be running at full speed the majority of the time it should be ok. The best fans for HSF usage usually also have more depth than regular fans (.38"). If you're going to get that HSF, why not put a 92mm fan on instead of an 80mm? Also, I've already linked you to the ones that everyone has mentioned so far, except for those by nev, which newegg doesn't carry. | ||

| I would plan to duct it right from the biginning, and select the right heatsink for the job. The Swifty would do that very well. They have commercial ducting, or you can mod your own. Then the fan choice is up to you and you can go all the way to 120mm if you want to. Just a thought, but it is a proven way to get great cooling and keep the noise down. | ||
