| Well I put on a Blue Orb II on my Q6600 today and the temps are 69-70C when the load is 100% across all the cores. This is worse than my stock heat sink that held it at 65-68C. I tried with arctic silver 5 then got fed up and put on the stuff that came with the heat sink and that didn't help either, Im thinking maybe i put to much on, the first time I put a pretty thick layer of as across the entire CPU and I was getting up to 74C so i put it on like the instructions say, just one line of it across the middle and that got me down to where im out now. Then did the same thing with the stock paste and got the same results. Also the fan stays at the same speed all the time even when im idleing at 49C Can someone help me here? PS: Its not overclocked | ||

| Here's a link I want you to check out...... Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring Read the documentation and check out the forums on the Q6600 Set the TjMax=95C for the Q6600 G0 and it is only 85C for the B3 version FYI: Im only including this link to help anyone that needs it...... | ||

but already the board is bending because of how tight it is, is it normal for it to bend like that?

| Another posibility is the heatspreader on the CPU is concave. You can use a razor blade to see if its flat or you can just lap it. Down side to lapping is that it will void your warrenty on the CPU, but if you do see that the heatspreader is dished you might be able to get a replacement none the less. | ||

| I tried several heatsinks with decent to poor results. For a Q6600, if you plan on any overclocking, get a ThermalRight True 120. It ain't cheap, but it works. I have one coming in later this week for my folding borg. It will be going on a E6600, but both my Q6600 borgs are sporting a TR heatsink. E | ||

| well got a new heatsink but it still goes up to 62C after 30 mins of being under 100% load across all the cores so that seems pretty safe right? Im not in life shortening territory right? Oh yea I also forgot to mention case temps are about 38C when I take readings. AND its not because bad airflow in my case, my room is about 36C-37C Last edited by Supersteve9219; 15-July-08 at 08:30 PM.. | ||

Your room is at 36°C!!! Dude, have you heard of air conditioning? I would be a little worried about being that high for my cpu, but my ambient is more like 28°C E

yea but i only use it if im in my room for more than an hour, something inside of me rather sit in a hot room than know that im using a bunch of energy just to cool me down, I do these tests at these temps to because I know its the worst it can get, and if the computer is fine at those temps it should be good. Im also thinking that maybe its the humitidy that might be causing this, the other day it was 90F and it started raining , you can only imagine how humid it was.
