Default Channeling Airflow over northbridge

By curiuos querke of faith my cpu and northbridge heatsink align so the airflow from the cpu can also cool the northbrige.

I would give you a photo but im only on post 9 - need xpirience.

Coud it be possible to use a cone shaped or piece of tubing to manipulate the airflow to improve it i.e - for overclocking stability?

Im sure with a few blue L.E.D's this wud look pretty darn good aswell.

can you please run your post through a spellchecker? I only ask because I have no idea what you're trying to say with "curious quirk of faith" , since that would mean a curve in faith. That and faith has nothing really to do with heatsink alignment.

You're just being awkward, Dupe' He means "quirk of fate" ... & it's not really, given what the northbridge actually does.

nev' - a pic of the mobo would be useful, so if you can't post one or host & link it, telling us what make/model the board is would be a help.

Basically, yes, I'm sure you could do it, but a dedicated fan blowing on it would be more effective.

What he said. Most of the newer ULTRA 400 wielding boards are putting active coolers on the NB. It definately helps. there is probably a way you could mount a little fan to your NB heat sink. Does it look like that is possible? And yeah post up what kind of mobo it is..that'll help alot! Welcome to PR btw!

I don't think using warm air to 'cool' something would be a good idea, but that's me...I'd buy a little fan to stick on the NB HS.

that noob alert is too good to be here!

news on aero7 - switched it round the other way after about 2 hours of working out how to dismantle (in order to clean) - result! deffinantly quieter and airflow has improved considerably.

but make sure there's no spaces between the [IMG] tags and the actual URL or it won't show up.

On another note, very simply put, the reason that we ask for proper spelling is that there are a contingent of people on this site for whom English is a second or even third language. When you don't know the language well already, any misspellings severely complicate matters.

For example, if you remove the tilde from the Spanish word for year, it becomes the word for asshole. Just a little squiggly line, but all that trouble. Now imagine how you would feel trying to translate all that. It would get tedious, and you would probably make mistakes.

Not to mention that proper spelling is good for getting your point across to English-speakers too...

I tucked a copy of it (saved as a progressive .jpg) in my corner of the PR server, the url for it is http://jonnyenglish.pcapex.com/sig/nev_payne-sig.jpg ,
so if you bung that text (with [IMG] and [/IMG] around it) in the "edit sig" page ( http://forums.pcapex.com/profile.php?do=editsignature ) Bob should be yer uncle

Boy, it's a tiddler, innit ?
