Talking FIRST POST! HOOWAY! Help with Aero 7

Hey pimps an hos need advice on my coolermaster aerocool7.

It currently knocks around at about 38 C on internet surfing an stuff but goes through to mid forties when playing any games (CPU is AMD ATHLON 2500 BARTON AT 333 (1.83GHz)).

I intend to up it to 400 fsb like virtually everyone else here with the same chip but I am worried about the current temp[erature state - I dont really wanna see temps above 50C.

Thanks for supporting me in my first post, and see you all around.

Make sure that it's aligned in the right direction, that the fan is spinning at full speed, that there is proper thermal goop application, and that the HSF is level. Then have fun OCing

yeah just watch ur cpu temp and your core because if you do you will more than likely crack the core

if you are worried about cooling your computer then knock in a couple more fans or get ahold of a water cooling system

now for the fsb make sure that you can crank it up without damaging anything

Those temps don't sound too bad too me ... what's your ambient temp? & what've you got in the way of case cooling? More/bigger/faster fans might lower your temps, and if you're using cheap thermal grease you could probably lose a couple of degrees by using something like Artic Silver instead.

edit - welcome to PR btw ... don't mention the war, Israel or anyones mother & you'll do ok here

to other posts aswell:

Antec Plus View 1000 with 1 rear fan and dual fan PSU.
I know there is a slight snag i will change round in good time - the aero 7' fan is sucking air in facing the exhuast fan creating an area of low pressure so lttle air gets to the heatsink. I will change this if i can find how to stich the fan round the other way....

My ambient temp(mobo) is 27 according to asusprobe, and CPU at 38 with fan a 2800rpm

Also if the fan is on full its like a vacuum claner to the ear.....not plesent.

Your "ambient" temp is more than likely the "system" temp, measured by a thermistor in or near the northbridge chip - I meant the air temp going in, aka room temperature.

The fan facing the wrong way is definitely a problem, as is the airflow through the case - you really need a couple of intake fans.

I'm sure that case has provision for a front intake and a intake that blows into the HD cage. You could always run them at a lower voltage if noise was an issue (check out http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=12291 )

so far those temps are pretty good.......have you tried any of the benchmark programs such as 3DMark2001se or PCMark2004 to see what kind of temps your getting with your current setup?

Or you could always upgrade to a better heatsink like the Thermalright SLK-900A, and if you dont care for your hearing much that pop the vantec 92mm tornado on that sucker and youll be pulling like 38 c with a 100 percent FULL load. Good Luck! Welcome to PR!

Don't believe the ASUS temp program, from what I have heard it can be a bit..

Try MotherBoard Monitor, it is a little bit of a pain to configure at first, but more accurate in general.

Download>>>http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...C7309%2C00.asp

Of course any software monitoring can be of quite a bit compared to a real temp probe, they should be accurate enough for you to see trends, and get the general ballpark.

COMPU NURSE is a reasonably priced probe (under 20$) if you ever get heavily into Overclocking and want to be more accurate, and can be used to check temps on Video cards, Hard Drives, Chipsets, etc..(FYI from Zennzzo)
