| Well since I'm moving everything over to a new case and buying all these new upgrades/mods...might as well look for a new HSF. It will be for an AMD 1800+ I've spoke with a few people and read plenty of reviews, and I'm really leaning towards the Zalman 7000. My biggest concern was that on Zalmans website, they said I had to cut a clip from the HSF because of interference with my motherboard. IF anyone has had any experience with this please let me know. Another thought was the Thermaltake Silent Boost. I've gotten mixed responses and read mixed reviews about that one though... I'm also looking for alternatives to the Zalman 7000 and the Silent Boost. I would prefer something as quiet...maybe not going over 25 dba. Any suggesetions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated Right now I'm getting about 40 C idle and about 47 C on load...running a Hardcano 6cu. Hoping to make a purchase this week, so I will have it by next week during spring break. Thanks Pimps! | ||

| The TT Volcano 11 is nice, I have one in Short Circuit and it was a huge improvement over my old Volcano 6+ Cu. The Thermalright SLK-800 is a good alternative to the more expensive SLK-900 and 947u, it would be great for an 1800+, even if you're OC'ing it will still keep your temps cool, also check out the Zalman orb cooler, can't think of the name right off but it's like the 7000 only it's copper and aluminum and a lot cheaper, from what I hear the 7000 is marginally better than the hybrid version. | ||

| So how is the Volcano 11? Is it louder than the volcano 6+? Now with the Thermalright heatsinks, you have to purchase a seperate fan, or do they already come with one? I didn't know Zalman made an orb type of cooler, I'll check it out. I'll post a link if I find it. Thanks man! | ||

That's really my 1st choice...but as I said I have to cut the clip so it will fit in my motherboard. I'm just wondering if anyone else had to do this. Any thoughts on that Zalman Orb that j-dogg was talking about? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Yes, thermalright sinks you supply the fan. This is in my opinion a positive, not a negative. I would get a thermalright SK7 SLK-800 SLK-900 SLK-947 Couple it with a good fan. The Zalman is a great sink ....... if it will fit. Thermaltake is well down the list IMHO. | ||

| Direct Cool Hoe | Ya can't go without lookin at the THERMALRIGHT line of coolers www.SVC.com has the lineup and their heatpipe H/S looks pretty dam good. I'm assuming you have mobo holes if you are looking at the Zalman line. The SLK coolers let you run a N/B cooler of choice as well. Worth a look. Like putwig said and I missed choice of fan is a plus... Last edited by ZENNZZO; 15-March-04 at 02:52 PM.. | |

| You will be pleased (performance wise) with anything by swiftech, or thermalright. Also, they perform so well, that you can use whatever fan you like to get acceptable noise levels (personally, I like a monster fan on a rheostat). The the Zalman 7000 Cu (or AlCu for that matter) is awesome, and quiet. If it will fit ...... and you are comfortable modding it .... it will serve you well. | ||

| Thanks for your help so far guys, I've gained more insight on different coolers now ![]() IF I were to choose a Thermalright or Swiftech heatsink...what would be a decent fan to use? Are those Vantec stealth fans worth anything? (27 CFM 21 dba) Side note: Mobo does have heatsink holes Putwig - I think the Zalman 7000 will fit, so that is definitely good news ![]() | ||
