DOOOD i want that thing! that is friggin HOT. if you just used your case fans and had decent airflow, i bet that would work really well...attach a peltier plate to it and it's prolly wicked cool! -decog

Beware referring to a passive CPU heatsink and a peltier in the same rig. That's just a The technology for this heatsink has finally arrived, but since the maximum load for it seems to be a 2.8C (im guessing non-overclocked).....it's a little too late. A year or two ago and this thing would have been all the rage, but with A64s and Prescotts coming out now, the shelf-life on this HS seems to be pretty limited. I do, however, look forward to seeing a similar design with increased fin density and fan attachments in the near future. Based on the performance from many of this model's reviews a newer model like that might make quite a splash. Edit---I just visited the website of the company that designed this thing and it looks like they've got somethig in the works for using heatpipe technology to transfer the heat from the CPU to a heatsink outside the case. Pretty cool idea. But damnit if I could just read Japanese....or whatever the hell it is. It all looks like wingdings to me. ![]() Edit#2--Just had an epiphany....this thing would make one bitchin GPU heatsink. Sure you'd lose all use of your PCI slots.....but who uses those anyway? And just think what a conversation-starter that'll be. ![]() Last edited by lAnonymousl; 18-February-04 at 04:08 AM..

| It sure looks to me like a prototype BTX form factor cooler....and frankly, not a good one. Yes, it has a lot of surface area, but the other drawings I've seen of BTX heatsinks look like a stack of CDs, and air directed at them will flow around a tall central core and continue diffusing in all directions into the case, cooling the rest of the components. This one is directional, which is limiting IMHO. Just got the SVC newsletter this morning and it looks like BTX coolers are well underway. | ||

I like this one better........I'm wondering what kind of cooling advantage this type of HSF would have over present day HSFs???

| anon- I had wondered about that right after i posted it. you never cease to set me straight! that one you posted word is really freaking sweet, I've seen it somewhere before, but i dont' remember. Something like that would prolly be awesome for my xp 2100+ would look really good in my themed case too. -decog | ||
