Question Coolers for Quads?

Ok, I just got done comparing 45nm Xeons and C2Quads. Since they are basically the same, I want to know what are some good coolers for these processors? I'm talking specifically the quad-cores (more specifically a Q9450, not like it's hotter than a dual either?).

Anyways, I was looking at the Tuniq Tower again, not to sure if it's a good candidate considering it's age now. Maybe swapping the fan for a better one would do it? What'd you think?

I have also looked at the Scythe Ninja and Infinity coolers. Then there is the Thermalright Ultra 120.

I would keep the stock clock speeds and possibly consider light overclocking, but don't want to get into water cooling at this time. I heard about lapping the base of the coolers but I don't know if it is effective. Suggestions would be nice, I feel like I'm making a big deal out of this . Are there any other good coolers I haven't metioned?

The Tuniq Tower is a great cooler. Not quite as good as a TR-120E but still up there with the best. The problem with the TR-120 is that how good it is depends on what fan you use, as it doesnt come with one.

If you're just going to keep it at stock speeds, the stock cooler would probably suffice. But who wants stock speeds? Overclocking ftw.

Oh yeah, quads are hotter than duals...you got two more cores....

Noctua 120mm versions, the Ultra 120 Exreme, I belive the scythe Mine can do it.

But aren't the 45nm sposed to be cooler running. I wan't a quad I can cool with a blueorb.......

Thermalright Ultra-120... It's very good. The Extreme version is good too but hardly an Extreme step up.

I was thinking about a 3.2GHz overclock. I researched the Noctua NH-U12P and it seems to cool as well as the Ultra 120 Extreme. I think it wins since it comes with a great fan and two pairs of fan clips for a push-pull setup.

I guess my second pick would be a Tuniq Tower. It looks like you can swap the fans too.

Plus what looks better than the new age of beige and burgundy?

Acustic PC's have the second fan for only $21 instead of 21.99, and they give you the whole pack. (all the mounting brackets for cross platform) Which Frozen CPU make you choose which one you want.

Trust me This is got to be the #1 cooler on my list, I don't own it, But I've installed one and silence + the air flow of these fans in duel, its crazy how much air you can feel moving vs the dead quietness of them.

I've read a few reviews of the older Noctua 120mm, and they said it performed very poorly, only slightly better than the Intel stock cooler. I don't know how much better the newer fan makes it though.

The whole push-pull method seems to move some air. I believe there's a big improvement.

The whole brown/cream fan look isn't that bad actually.

You can sandwich the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with 2 fans also. But it really doesn't help it much. I've since removed one of the fans and it's only a degree or two hotter. The TR Ultra 120 xtreme is a Great Cooler. It's got my vote :-)
